Your data, clearly explained

Privacy Policy

Seed is designed as a local-first founder workspace. This policy explains what the app handles, where information is stored, and the choices available to you.

Effective July 26, 2026 Last updated July 26, 2026
Plain-language summary

Seed does not operate an advertising profile or developer-controlled account server for your private workspace. Founder records stay on your device and may sync through your private iCloud CloudKit database. Location is requested only when you choose it, and Seed does not keep location history.

1. Scope and operator

This Privacy Policy applies to the Seed iPhone application and the Seed website. Seed is operated by Viraj Patel. “Seed,” “we,” and “us” refer to the app and its operator.

2. Information Seed handles

Depending on how you use Seed, you may enter or create the following information:

  • Startup and workspace details, such as company name, stage, problem statement, priorities, decisions, and roadmap progress.
  • Financial and capital-planning records, such as cash, revenue, expenses, burn, runway, capital targets, funding opportunities, application state, and notes.
  • Validation records, including assumptions, customer-interview notes, experiments, evidence, and outcomes.
  • Discovery preferences, such as intent, region, industry, business type, product model, and preferred capital types.
  • Items you save or move into a private funding or company workflow.

Seed currently works in guest mode and does not require a separate Seed username or password. The app does not currently request access to your contacts, camera, photo library, microphone, Health data, or advertising identifier.

3. Location information

Location is optional. If you tap “Use current location,” Seed requests a single foreground location and uses reverse geocoding to identify a city, state or region, and country. Seed may store the chosen place and optional coordinates in your private profile so it can match nearby startups, resources, events, and funding.

Seed does not continuously monitor your location and does not retain location history. You can enter a city manually instead, deny location permission, or revoke permission at any time in iOS Settings.

4. Local storage and iCloud

Private workspace information is stored locally on your device. On supported signed-in devices, Seed may use Apple CloudKit to synchronize this information through the private database associated with your iCloud account. If CloudKit is unavailable, Seed is designed to continue with local storage.

Seed does not operate a separate developer-controlled account database for these records. Apple’s handling of iCloud and CloudKit information is governed by Apple’s terms and privacy policies.

5. Discovery sources and network requests

Seed retrieves public startup, funding, event, and resource information from a reviewed set of HTTPS sources. The app stores a replaceable local discovery cache containing facts, short summaries, dates, source links, and provenance.

Private financial, company, validation, and pipeline records are kept separate from discovery data and are not sent to public discovery sources. When your device contacts an external source or opens a link, that provider may receive ordinary network information such as an IP address under its own privacy policy.

6. Website and email contact

The Seed website is a static site. It does not include an analytics SDK, advertising tracker, contact form, or marketing cookie. If hosting infrastructure keeps routine security or delivery logs, those logs may include basic request details for operational and abuse-prevention purposes.

If you email Seed, we receive your email address and whatever information you include. That information is used to read and respond to your request. Please do not send passwords, financial records, private CloudKit identifiers, or other sensitive founder information by email.

7. Selling, sharing, advertising, and analytics

Seed does not sell your personal information. Seed does not use private workspace information for cross-app advertising, data-broker profiling, or third-party advertising. The current app does not include a third-party analytics or advertising SDK.

Information may be disclosed if reasonably necessary to comply with law, protect users or the app, investigate abuse, or complete a business transfer, subject to applicable legal protections. Any service provider given access to user information must be expected to protect it consistently with this policy.

8. Retention and deletion

Local records remain on your device until you delete them through available app controls, remove the app and its local data, or otherwise manage the device. Records synchronized through iCloud may remain in your private CloudKit database according to your iCloud settings and Apple’s retention practices.

Support emails are retained only as long as reasonably needed to respond, keep a record of the request, protect the service, or meet legal obligations. You may request deletion of support correspondence by contacting Seed.

9. Your privacy choices

  • Use manual city entry instead of granting location permission.
  • Change or revoke location access in iOS Settings.
  • Delete records using the controls available in the app.
  • Manage iCloud availability and storage through Apple device settings.
  • Contact Seed to ask about access, correction, or deletion options.

Some rights depend on where you live. Seed will consider verified privacy requests in accordance with applicable law.

10. Security

Seed limits app capabilities, separates private founder records from replaceable discovery data, uses HTTPS for reviewed network sources, and relies on iOS and iCloud security controls. No storage or transmission method is perfectly secure, so absolute security cannot be guaranteed.

11. Children

Seed is intended for founders, startup operators, and adult ecosystem explorers. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly seek personal information from children under 13.

12. Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated as Seed changes. The revised page will show a new “Last updated” date. Material changes may also be communicated in the app or through another appropriate notice.
